Professor Kevin OâRourke Receives Alice Murray Award for Economic History
Professor Kevin OâRourke, from Sciences Po Paris and CNRS, has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Alice Murray Distinguished Scholar Award. This award, presented by the Centre for Economics, Policy and History (CEPH) at Trinity College Dublin, recognizes an economic historian whose work significantly contributes to the discipline.

The Effects of Inequality on Society
Inequality is rampant, we hardly need telling. Rarely does the print media pass up an opportunity to remind us. We stand inundated by an endless stream of statistics â on scales barely fathomable â each one more depressing than the last. For instance, itâs widely known that: â8% of humanity takes home 50% of global incomeâ; that âthe top 1% own 45% of the worldâs wealthâ; and how could we forget that âthe 26 richest people on earth had the same net worth as the poorest halfâ. As shocking as these stats once were, theyâre now dishearteningly familiar; we can recite them unassisted; we are numb to them.
